Whether you currently own a Chickering piano, or looking to purchase or refurbish one, you will find the following resources invaluable:

The Chickering Foundation specializes in Chickering pianos made before 1890. President Gregory Bennett is one of the nation’s foremost experts on older Chickering pianos and he has an incredible collection of early Chickering pianos. 

Period Piano.org is run by Bill Shull, a technician, historian, and preservationist who passionately believes that older instruments need to be preserved and studied. He has a collection of older pianos including many Chickering models. 

Robbin Hufford is a music technician in the Fort Worth area.  He has worked on countless Chickering pianos, he owns some very rare Chickering pianos, and he knows a lot about what the company was doing because he was able to meet some of Chickering’s engineers from long ago.

The Chickering Concert Grand Project run by Tali Mahanor collects the larger Chickering pianos and showcases them so that the public can refamiliarize itself with the sound of Chickering instruments and appreciate them once more.  

The Fredrick Collection of Pianos contains Chickering pianos and offers a wealth of information about pianos.

Trace a piano’s history and lineage through The Smithsonian Institution. They house the Chickering Company’s historical records. 

Pacific Piano Supply Company  owner, Randy Morton, together with the Tokiwa Company of Japan, designed modern action parts for Chickering grand pianos that originally used Erhard action parts.  Piano restorers and technicians can order these modern parts from Pacific Piano Supply and Randy can provide instruction on how to install them.  Currently, Randy is working with Tokiwa on modern action parts for Chickering grands that originally used Brown action parts.

Amazon sells a reprint of the book, The Commemoration of The Founding of The House of Chickering and Sons Upon the Eightieth Anniversary of The Event, 1823-1903, which the Chickering company produced in 1904 and details the company’s extensive history.
